Testimonials

  • A perfect adventure island

Every adventure within one hour's walk or kayak from the main house. And in the main house – to wallow in a monster bath, and then to sink into a sofa with a glass of fino and ponder the morrow: With muffled oar and binoculars ready, to stalk the seal or sea eagle. To climb Beinn a' Bhàillidh and from on high to shout the names of the Western isles from South to North - Muck, Eigg, Rhum and the mighty Cuillins of Skye. To walk the paths until you come to Shoe Bay, the most idyllic spot surely in all the West, as the sun sinks gently down and the tide creeps in across the golden sand. And then back to the house for that bath again, and then dinner and then…..ponder the morrow before honest, natural lassitude overwhelms you.

  • Something for everybody

This island surely has something for everybody. Whether in search of peace and solitude, inspiration or relaxation It is here waiting for you. We found an endless array of beautiful walks, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches to picnic on. We saw deer and otters, sea eagles and woodpeckers. We ate delicious locally sourced food and were completely spoiled by Paul and Kate. We will definitely return to this secret paradise.

  • Nurture the creative soul

Gauguin might have had to go to Tahiti to find inspiration but take it from me you will find everything you need to nurture the creative soul on Shona. The fantastic northern light, beautiful white sandy beach and sparkling turquoise sea will give you a palette of colours and moods the like of which you've never seen before. Better than any boutique hotel, fabulous for any party or romantic get away. The island suits everybody and is perfect to share with friends, for families looking for Swallows and Amazons, teenagers, toddlers, foodies, yoga fanatics, just anybody looking for a good time in a beautiful unique magical mysterious place! The only downside is like Gauguin you might find it hard to leave!
